Joining Cub Scout Pack 168

Cub Scouts and Parent Volunteers may sign up for Cub Scout Pack 168 at beascout.scouting.org. Pack 168 members will be required to submit an Annual Health and Medical Record (Parts A & B). Scouts should do their best to wear a Cub Scout Uniform and bring a Scout Rank handbook to meetings (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, or Arrow of Light).

Getting Started

New Cub Scouts can join the Pack at any time of the year, but Pack 168 typically hosts a Join Scouting Night at the beginning of the school year to help answer questions about joining the Pack.

Scouts who are interested in joining the Pack are welcome to come to a meeting and see the types of activities our Cub Scouts do!

New Scouts can expect to be introduced to the Scout Oath and Scout Law in their first meeting.

What do I need?

Scouts will need to bring a few supplies to meetings. Here are the mainstays:

  • Cub Scout Uniform (hat, neckerchief, shirt, pants/shorts, and appropriate shoes)

  • Cub Scout Rank Handbook (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, or AOL)
  • Backpack with the 6 Cub Scout Essentials (Snack, Water, First aid kit, Sun protection, a flashlight, and a Whistle)
  • ...and a positive attitude!

If additional supplies are required, your Scout's Den leader will inform you prior to the meeting.

Parent Volunteers

Cub Scouts is a family program and Packs are run by volunteers. Pack 168 encourages parents to join their Scouts on their journey. There are tons of ways that adult leaders can help to give the Scouts a great Cub Scout program.

There are so many opportunities for Adult leaders to volunteer in the Pack. Volunteers can be Den Leaders, Assistant Den Leaders, or Committee Members who help manage the business of the Pack such as planning fundraisers and events, coordinating Scout advancements, or even welcoming new families to the Pack.

How do I sign up?

Adults interested in becoming Pack leaders should reach out to the Cubmaster or Committee Chair to discuss which positions they would be best suited for.

Once you've found a position in the Pack, can join the Pack at beascout.scouting.org

All volunteers are required to complete a background check and complete Safeguarding Youth Training. All leaders working directly with youth are also required to complete Hazardous Weather Training (SCO 800)

Pack Leaders are requested to attend Cub Scout Leader Adventure Weekend (CLAW), which is offered twice annually by Scouting America New Hampshire. CLAW trained leaders must be present at all Pack camping events.

In addition to the courses above, adult leaders are required to complete position specific training as soon as practical. Online courses are available at Scouting University (my.scouting.org).

Adult leaders are requested to attend Pack 168 Leader Planning meetings (typically) one week prior to Pack meetings (twice a month).

Protecting God's Children - Safe Environment

In addition to the Scouting America requirements, our chartering organization, the Parish of the Assumption has several additional requirements for volunteers working with youth.

The background check form linked above must be completed, signed and returned to the Parish of the Assumption Office at St. Joseph Church.
